Beautiful girl
It is with the heaviest of hearts and immense sorrow that I have to write of the loss of our sweet Jess yesterday.
We spent a sleepless tearful night and with the morning came the crushing realisation that she was really gone. She will take her final resting place this morning.
Jess was a beautiful free-spirited and adventurous creature that lived her life to the full and would have been discontent had that freedom been curtailed. Her wanderings would lead her far away from home, I knew that, and with her return each dusk I would give an inward, almost imperceptible sigh of relief. She was home and safe and warm. We treasured her love and affection.
In the two years Jess shared our lives she was a beacon of joy, light and pure happiness. Our hearts are broken.
I can say no more.

Postscript ~
I will leave this post open for a couple of weeks as a memorial to Jess and then I think this blog will turn silent for a while. Just for a while. Maybe until the New Year. We'll see.

I'm so so sorry Jeanne, and can imagine how heart broken you feel. Some cats just need to walk wild and free, however much we like to think they are our pets.
Jess was lucky that you let her enjoy being an outdoor cat, who lived a very happy life.

We are so sad to read of the death of your beautiful cat Jess. As we no longer have cats of our own, we delighted in 'adopting' Jess through your blog and our lives too will now be emptier without her.
We can understand how desolate you must be feeling right now and all we can say is that our thoughts are with you. This is the big downside of loving but, still, it is better to have loved.

Dear Jeanne, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I can feel what you are going through right now. I had to cats, Max and Moritz, and they accompanied us for over fourteen years. When we had to say good bye, we felt so heartbroken. Take your time – we will be here waiting for you.

I am so deeply sorry about the loss of your beautiful cat, Jess. With our grief still raw I open my heart to you and your family and will add that whilst your mourn her - what a wonderful cat she was - find peace in the fact she must have been so very, very happy with you.
I too shall miss your posts but totally understand how a break is important at such times.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
It was good seeing photos of her here; she was beautiful and her spirit came across in what you shared of her on this blog.
Hell and damnation to all speeding vehicle drivers who roar thoughtlessly through sleepy villages, breaking the law and breaking hearts.. Jess's purr has gone silent but her memory is ever golden. Everyone reading of her loss will give their own little ones an extra cuddle, and if that is to be Jess's legacy, it is a good one..
What a dear tribute to your Jess. Love from a cat touches our hearts in deep ways, and losing them really hurts. Sending you comfort in this time of loss. My own kitty Whiskers, age 15, died a few weeks ago.

Oh no, Jeanne! I´ve only just seen your post! That´s terrible, I´m in tears...what has happened, she was only 8 years old! I´m speechless, but I know there are no words that can give you comfort. Jeanne, in my reply to your comment last Friday I asked you how the cats are and that was the day she left you, I still can´t believe it, I´m so sorry. Poor little Jess!
I understand very well that you don´t feel like blogging now. Take your time!
