... the cosmos and sweet-peas that I sowed way back in March are looking lovely and with regular picking the cosmos will keep flowering well into September ~
.... we have had lots of runner beans! I have been picking them small when they are at their best. Steamed or in a stir-fry they are such good value! I love their pretty orange-red flowers ~
...just-ripening tomatoes - we have Tangella, Gardener's Delight and Sungold. The Tangella seeds were donated by Jo from The Good Life. They are yet to ripen Jo but they received a good dose of sunlight today ~
... the arbour is a temporary structure created this year for the runner beans and barlotti beans to scramble over - it has worked really well ~
Well those were some images from part of our lazy day. We did manage to drag ourselves away from our little haven with a brief visit to Homebase where we bought some paint for the shower-room. The window frames desperately need some attention. We also bought some Farrow & Ball paint ( Pavilion Grey - the same shade we used in our bedroom) for me to paint a boring old pine mirror currently hanging on the upstairs landing. If it looks good I may bring it downstairs and place it in a more prominent position in the back lobby - we'll see. Needless to say we did the shopping only and not the painting. That will keep for another, less sunny day!
We have been really busy just lately with lots going on but I hope to have a good catch up with everyone this week.
Hope you all had a relaxing sunny weekend!
Jeanne

You have An English Country Garden - lady, you are so lucky!=] Oh, alright, I know that you had to work at it, too, and, now, here you are, lazily enjoying the fruits of your labours.;) I did the very same thing, myself, today, too.
I bought the seeds for cosmos and sunflowers and all of those bright, cheery and hardy type of things, to go in a garden that I want along a wall, down by the road. Unfortunately, Tom has decided that the wall needs more height and I am, once again, cosmos-less. They make the best cut flowers (with the way the buds keep opening), don't they?
Oh, and new paint....it's as good as a new dress for a party, isn't it?
Lovely Sunday back to you,
Katy xxo
It has been a lovely weekend and it looks like you have had one also. We have had so many storms it is great to have a break.

Such a pleasure to see pics of your beautiful garden today Jeanne. I wish I would have planted beans this year, but just wasn't able to get the beds ready. I did plant the tomatoes and cucumbers and peppers though. They are coming along nicely.
Ooooh I don't like to paint, but it is something that must be done so I do it. I hope yours turns out just the way you would like it too.
sending hugs...
Jeanne, I love the rich purple of that sweet pea. What a delicious colour. My cosmos don't look a bit like yours! Could you come here and work your magic on our garden? It was a beautiful day though wasn't it? Very misty here today which I hope is heat haze!! Have a great week. Lesley x
Hello Jeanne:
Oh, the colour of your Sweet Peas - absolutely wonderful. They are, as you say, such good value as flowers to cut for the house and always, in our view, look lovely wherever they are placed. But your whole garden seems to be so very productive and our mouths are watering at the thought of your young runner beans. Another favourite of ours and not usually grown at all in Hungary.
We very much hope that you will post a picture of the repainted mirror when it is complete. Most intriguing. As it is, we are now off to look at our F & B shade chart to see exactly the colour!
Some lovely pictures, I have not grown cosmos so will make a note to try next year. Will look forward to seeing your mirror painted.
I too have loads of cosmos - seeds given to me by a fellow blogger. Love the colour of your sweet peas are they highly scented too? We are already onto our daily bean rations and this year have three different varieties so have pink and white flowers too. Glad you had a sunny Sunday - wasn't it lovely not too hot either.
Hasn't it been a glorious day, glad you've been able to relax and enjoy it. Your garden is looking lovely.
You have the most beautiful garden in which to spend a sunny Sunday! We had beans and tomatoes from our garden yesterday as well as plums from the tree. Your cosmos look so pretty:)
Beautiful images of late summer garden bloom and produce.;)
How has your summer been? It has been so wet and cold here, not many nice ripe tomatoes I am afraid.;)
Enjoy your busy week dear Jeanne;),
xoxo
The colour of your sweetpeas is so rich and I imagine the scent divine.
We are so fortunate to step from the backdoor and pick the harvest from the garden and to eat or can it so fresh.
Have a wonderful week.

Your garden looks wonderful !! Jeanne...enjoy a happy week....love from me...xxx...
What a gorgeous colour those sweetpeas are, I'm envious as I never got round to planting any this year and I've missed the wonderful scent. Thank you for the link, Jeanne. I'm pleased that the tomatoes got some sun yesterday, and it's sunny here again today, I hope it is there too. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the Tangellas ripen for you, it would be such a shame to miss trying them, they're delicious. We've only just started picking our beans, and we've already started blanching and freezing them, we're going to get a good harvest again this year.
Jane,
The Beaujolais Burgundy sweetpeas have a lovely fragrance and they cut well too!

Funnily enough I have been taking the odd photo of sweet peas today for my next blog post. Yours are a beautiful colour Jeanne. Hope that it is not too long before you are eating those tomatoes. Have read about them over at Jo's blog and they do sound rather tasty.
Jeanne,- we share more than a love of gardens; my second Christian name is Jeanne after my French great-grandmother.
Your photographs are beautiful and the deep purple of the sweetpeas are divine; I almost feel as if I can touch very satin petals.
The cosmos are flourishing and happy in your garden and who can blame them?
I have found something magical in our local allotment...
Have a happy week.
Stephanie
I love these garden photos (for an urban-dweller like me, they're sometimes as close as I get to the real thing!) Thanks for sharing.
Your garden looks superb - I love your sweet peas. We are also just starting to pick the runner beans my favourite vegetable. Love the colour paint you have chosen. Enjoy the time in the garden summer will soon be slipping into Autumn!

Dear Jeanne,
Your garden looks beautiful and well taken care off! I like your variety of cosmos. Those little white stripes on the petals make it look special.
I am very envious of your tomatoes ;-)! I had several different varieties in my garden, but I had to throw them all away. The leaves just wilted....
Have a lovely evening! It's raining all day in Rotterdam :-(!
Lieve groet,
Madelief
Hi Jeanne,
I forgot to answer your question about the grapes they have in the vineyard. I believe it was Riesling, Mueller Thurgau (a crossing between Riesling & Silvaner) & Pinot noir (Blauer Spaetburgunder).
We liked the Mueller Thurgau best!
Lieve groet,
Madelief x
Dear Jeanne

Dear Jeanne,
Your garden is simply beautiful. I can understand how one could spend a sunny Sunday lounging in your garden...blissfully so. The cosmos look so pretty. I believe I may have to try them in my garden next year.
I hope all is sweet in your part of the world. Fall is around the corner and I'm waiting to welcome it with open arms!
Blissful tidings to you! xo!
